Dr. Jinbo Xu

Dr. Jinbo Xu received his B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Science and Technology of China, his M.Sc. from Chinese Academy of Sciences, and his Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo. He spent one year following as a research assistant professor at the University of Waterloo and one year as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science and AI Laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Dr. Xu’s research lies in the interface of machine learning, optimization and computational biology. He has developed several popular bioinformatics programs such as the CASP-winning RaptorX suite (http://raptorx.uchicago.edu) for protein structure prediction and IsoRank/HubAlign/ConvexAlign for comparative analysis of protein interaction networks. Dr. Xu is the recipient of Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship and NSF CAREER award.
