Saeed Sharifi-Malvajerdi received his PhD in 2022 from the Statistics and Data Science Department of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, under the supervision of Michael Kearns and Aaron Roth. He holds bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Mathematics, both from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran.
Saeed’s research addresses theoretical and practical challenges in enforcing ethical and societal constraints such as fairness when designing machine learning algorithms. More precisely, he works on providing algorithmic and theoretical foundations for privacy-preserving data analysis, algorithmic fairness in machine learning, and efficient data deletion from machine learning models (machine unlearning). He is also interested in adaptive data analysis, statistical learning theory, and algorithmic game theory.
Dr. Sharifi-Malvajerdi also has a personally maintained website which can be found at http://www.ttic.edu/sharifi-malvajerdi.
